Aside from the movie Titanic, I don’t have much knowledge about icebergs. However, you hear the phrase all the time - the majority of every iceberg is under water, out of sight for most people. It’s a common fact that 90% of an iceberg’s mass is below the surface, and this fact can be related to most things in life. Ninety percent of the people you meet and interact with everyday are agreeable/pleasant to be around, and some would argue that 90% of communication is through body language and non-verbal.

Let’s face it – paper isn’t safe. It can be easily destroyed, damaged or lost. There are multiple ways a paper document can be modified or altered that are almost impossible to detect. Have you ever tried to track down an important document that is “missing” only to find it at the bottom of a pile on someone’s desk? What about trying to generate analytics from a piece of paper, or paper trail? There’s no such thing!

Remember when business communications revolved around the mailman? Sure you could pick up the phone and have an actual conversation with a colleague or prospect, but nothing was accomplished until it was captured “in writing”.
